My senior year at Wake I had pretty much finished up most of my requisites for my major and minor, so I could choose between tennis and golf. I chose golf, and it was wonderful (thank goodness I learned a little patience over the years). For 3 hours every monday I got to be outside swinging a club in the sunshine, while my friends were all stuck in class. Sadly I didn't get much of a chance to maintain the skills I learned while I was in PT school. Occasionally I would come home and my dad would take me to the driving range or to play a round. Well this week I realized it's been 2 years since I swung a club. Today was the chance to show that I can still play despite being rusty!!
We played 9 holes at National. I think I had maybe 3 or 4 good hits, and the rest I returned to the feeling I felt when I was six and watched the ball skip over 2 feet of ground (because that's how good I am after 2 years of not playing). But when it hits right, and that ball goes flying straight down the fairway, it feels so good! I may not be the best golfer, but at least I look good doing it! Here I am:
At least I look like I know what I'm doing somewhat!
I had fun despite being awful most of the time. Also it was one of those miraculous summer days in the pines when although it was humid, it wasn't scorchingly hot out, and the perfect amount of cloud cover!
Anyway here is the pro (aka my dad) looking cool in his shades as he takes his shot:
The rest of the day consisted of studying (boo) and sorting through storage. The nice thing is that a lot of it got put into the "goes to Colorado" pile. The bad thing is there are at least 5 big boxes of stuff from before clinicals that I need to sort through, and about 100000lbs of notebooks from PT school and I need to get rid of lots of it! Not to mention various PT books that I don't need anymore (some useful of course, but others that I haven't touched? not so much). I have my work cut out for me. And this doesn't even include the books I own!
On the bright side I may be buying a new car tomorrow... now if only my camry will sell!!!
