"Fly Sox", Sushi, and Arrogant Bastard

Home again and living it up in little Southern Pines. And by living it up I mean obviously hours upon hours of studying.  What does that look like? Something like this:

So with studying you get facebook, cakewrecks, Wii-Fit, possibly some laundry, posting my car for sale, running, and anything else that you can think of. The good news is that despite all this, I'm now not completely "quite deficient" on all categories of my practice test. Now just plain old boring "deficient" woohoo! (dont worry I did get some competent marks, there's hope yet, now if i can just... oh look shiny things)

So how do I tolerate the stress?? Well with lots of sushi and "fly sox" and more sushi. I think I have had more sushi in the past week than I have in my entire life! And that's saying something! Seriously, I've been eating so much sushi soon I'll be looking like this:

Alana came down to visit last night and we went out to the best sushi place ever.. Ten Ya. So yummy! It was great to catch up, and to pick her brain about the questions I got wrong about wound care. We're in the car heading to the restaurant with my parents and the conversation went something like this:

"Sooo, if you are treating a partial thickness burn and trying to prevent infection, what kind of dressing do you use?" - me
"well you could use sulfablahaha or silver something or (etc etc)" - Alana
"blue cheese!" - Dad.
"well actually there have been worse things put in wounds" - Alana
"ewwwwwwww!" - Dad, Mom, me  (Kacin now that she's reading this. Sorry K.)
... yeah I'm not a wound therapist.

So of course after we had our fill of delicious sushi and mochi, we went to the Sly Fox for a beverage and to catch up on the latest events and gossip, then closed out the bar at the extremely late hour of 11:30 PM.  We were going to go to the classic Bell Tree, but as we drove by there was no-one there! Sly Fox it was, we were two of maybe 7 people there. Then the 5 others slowly trickle out and the staff started cleaning. So we finished our Arrogant Bastards and called it a night.

And then I had sushi again for lunch today :)
Here are some fun facts about sushi

But apparently it's not all fun and deliciousness. We sushi lovers may be threatening some of the species. Bluefin Tuna is the primary tuna used in sushi and the population is severely threatened. Sadly so are eel and octopus (I have no problems passing up the octopus sushi, but eel is one of my favorites!) Avoid farmed salmon too. Ok enough sushi/fish extinction discussions!!!

Tomorrow (after studying) I'm returning to Winston-Salem to spend time with Juliet and wander around Wake some. I'm really excited I haven't been back in years. It's always beautiful there and feels like going home!!
